What RecallR holds, who else sees it, and how to get rid of all of it.

Last updated: August 25, 2026

RecallR turns a photograph of your notes into flashcards. To do that we need your notes, and an account to keep them in. This page says exactly what we hold, who else sees it, and how to get rid of all of it. No cookie-banner language, no “we may share with partners”.

The short version

  • We do not sell your data, and we never have.
  • There is no advertising in RecallR, and no ad or tracking software in the app.
  • We do not follow you across other apps or websites.
  • The pages you photograph are sent to an AI provider to be read. Under their terms, what we send is not used to train their models.
  • You can delete your account, your notes and your files from inside the app, at any time.

1. What we collect

Your email address. It is how you sign in. There is no password — we email you a six-digit code instead.

Your name. Whatever you type when you first open the app. It is used to greet you and nothing else.

What you are studying. Your exam, your exam date, your year of study, whether you study alone or at a coaching centre, and the subject you find hardest. This is what lets the app schedule your revision and estimate a score.

The pages you scan and the files you import. Photographs of your notes, and any PDF you upload. These are stored in your account.

The cards and decks you make. Including how you graded each card, which is what the spaced-repetition schedule is built from.

Your subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription and when it renews. We never see your card details. Payment happens inside Apple’s or Google’s own systems and no part of it reaches us.

How you use the app. Which screens you open, when a scan succeeds or fails, how many cards you review. This is tied to your account so we can tell whether a change actually helped students rather than just moved a number.

Crash reports. When the app breaks, we receive the error, your device model and your operating system version. These are not attached to your account — we can see that a crash happened, not who it happened to.

2. Where your notes go

This is the part most people want to know, so it gets its own section.

When you photograph a page, the image is uploaded to our storage and then sent to an AI provider — OpenAI — which returns the questions and answers that become your cards. The same happens with a PDF you import, and with the transcript of a YouTube lecture you paste in.

Under the API terms we use, content sent to OpenAI is not used to train its models, and we ask it not to store the request beyond what is needed to answer it.

We keep the original image in your account so you can look at the page a card came from. It stays until you delete the deck or your account.

3. Who else handles your data

We use a small number of companies to run RecallR. Each one only receives what it needs.

  • Supabase — your account, your decks and cards, and your uploaded files. This is where nearly everything lives.
  • OpenAI — reads your scanned pages and writes the cards, as described above.
  • Resend — sends the sign-in code to your email address.
  • RevenueCat — tracks whether your subscription is active. It receives your account ID and your purchase history, never your payment details.
  • PostHog — product analytics. It receives your account ID, your email address and the events described above.
  • Sentry — crash reports, with no account attached.
  • Vercel and Cloudflare — host the website and the service that fetches YouTube transcripts.

That is the complete list. We do not share your data with anyone else, and we do not sell it to anyone, ever.

4. How long we keep things

Your account, your notes, your cards and your files are kept for as long as your account exists. Nothing expires on its own — a deck you made two years ago is still there, because that is the point of a revision app.

When you delete your account, all of it goes at once. See the next section.

Two things outlive the account by design: anonymous crash reports, which were never attached to you, and records we are required to keep for tax and accounting on a purchase you actually made.

5. Deleting everything

In the app: Settings → Delete account. It is immediate and it is not reversible.

It removes your uploaded photographs and PDFs from storage first, then deletes the account itself, which takes your profile, your decks, your cards and your entire review history with it.

If you cannot get into the app, email us from the address on the account and we will do it for you. There are more details on our account deletion page.

6. What we do not do

  • No advertising, anywhere in the app.
  • No tracking. We do not link what you do in RecallR to anything you do in other companies’ apps or websites, and there is no advertising identifier in the app.
  • No selling or renting your data to anyone.
  • No reading your notes as a person. Your pages are processed automatically.
  • No location tracking. We never ask for your location.
  • No access to your contacts, microphone, or your photo library beyond the pictures you pick yourself.

7. Students under 18

Many of the students who use RecallR are at school, and that is who it is built for. RecallR is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you are a parent and believe your child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting is built into the app; for the others, email us and we will answer within 30 days.

If you are in India, Turkey, the UK or the European Union, you also have rights under your own national data protection law — including the right to complain to your data protection authority if you think we have got something wrong. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app rather than hoping you re-read this page.

10. Contact

Questions, requests, or something on this page that does not match what you have seen in the app? Email support@tryrecallr.com and a person will read it.
